Ronald Lowney, 73

 

 

Ronald Lowney went to be with his Heavenly father.

Ron was born September 12, 1945, to Rita (Mahoney) and Jeremiah "Kewpie" Lowney of Butte. He graduated from Butte High School in 1964, then went on to obtain his teaching degree from WesternMontanaCollege in Dillon. Ron married his high school sweetheart Judy Bugni on June 25, 1965. They have 2 children Tammy Marie and Ronald Lenus. Because of his love for children, Ron taught over 30 years in the Butte School District, as well as teaching in Boulder, Plentywood, and Ennis. After retiring Ron continued supporting Butte's youth by cheering them on at sporting events where he could often be heard cheering the hardest.

Ron was an avid golfer and could often be found at the Highland View Golf Course. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a lover of all animals. After his retirement, he would walk the walking trail to feed the geese and ducks.

He was preceded in death by his parents Jeremiah and Rita Lowney, and his brothers Father Jerry, Lenus, and David Lowney.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years Judy Lowney, his son Ron Lowney of Billings, daughter/(son-in-law) Tammy and Mike Teater of Spokane, Washington, grandchildren Abbey and Tristan Teater of Spokane, WA and Lauren Lowney of San Diego. He is also survived by brother Kevin Lowney of Las Vegas, and his sisters (brothers-in-law) Cheryl and William Pettersen of Butte, Chairmaine and Barney Maki of Butte, and Janeane Hamada of Portland; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 12:30 PM in St. Ann’s Catholic Church. Rite of Committal will follow in Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery.
