Clyde Rowland

Clyde Rowland

July 7, 1946-April 18, 2018

Clyde Harvey Rowland left this world on April 18, 2018. He was born July 7, 1946 in Moscow, Idaho and followed his family around until they settled in Butte in 1956.

He graduated from Butte High and then attended college at Montana State University where he earned his BS in Chemical Engineering in 1968. In 1971 he graduated from the University of California at Berkeley with a MD in Chemical Engineering. He worked in California, South Carolina, and Texas before returning home to Butte.

He loved his family, his cat, reading, and playing bridge -- mostly in that order. He was a member of the American Contract Bridge Club, Butte Unit 406 and Copper City Bridge Club.

He is survived by his siblings, Jean and Dan Matteucci, Ginny and Greg Mohl and Patty Briggs and their children. He will be missed.

Cremation has taken place in Billings. A celebration of his life will be held Friday, July 6, 2018 in Wayrynen-Richards Funeral Home and a reception will follow in Wayrynen-Richards Community Center.

I ALWAYS THOUGHT CLYDE WAS THE SMARTEST PERSON I KNEW. I REMEMBER CLYDE WAS ALWAYS QUIET AND TO THIS VERY DAY I STILL KICK MY SELF IN THE BUTT FOR NOT BEING MORE FRIENDLY WITH CLYDE. I WAS SORRY TO READ OF HIS PASSING BUT I'M SURE HE HAD A GOOD LIFE AND THATS ALL ANY OF US CAN HOPE FOR MAY PEACE BE WITH WITH THE FAMILY----jack potter

I had Chem lab with Clyde, Phil S. and Ed T..  We felt very lucky to be with the chem whiz kid, and learned so much about lab procedure.  Clyde made it fun and I'm sure our grade was better as well.  He did as he said he would--became a chemical engineer.
